Sudbery, Shardlow and Huntington (2010) reported interview data that gave a positive view of holding therapy, and argued that rejection of this treatment has been inappropriate. The present short paper notes the problem of defining holding therapy, critiques the existing outcome research that has been presented in support of the method and describes serious problems related to the conclusions drawn by Sudbery et al., as well as updating information about publications that reject holding therapy.
