This film is about the creative partnership of W.S. Gilbert (librettist) and Arthur Sullivan (composer), who wrote classic comic operas. However after 10 hits they had produced a flop, and it was not until Gilbert got inspiration from a Japanese cultural exhibition that they developed another hit opera: The Mikado. There are also interesting insights into the contrasting characters of Gilbert and Sullivan.
