<p>Peter Wilmott was a student at Ruskin but also became a pioneer in the field of social research and has had worldwide influence. For most of his working life was not part of the university establishment but chose to work for the small, Independent Research Unit and the Institute of Community Studies in Bethnal Green.</p>
