<p>James Edward Mortimer is a former TUC scholar at Ruskin College, 1945-6. Before that he was a ship fitter's apprentice, then after Ruskin he became Director of the London Co-operative Society 1968-71, then from 1974-81 he was Chairman of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS), before he became the General Secretary of the Labour Party for the period 1982-5.</p> <p>BIBLIOGRAPHY: Includes index</p>
