<p>Carole Pateman is a former student of Ruskin College, 1963-65. She completed her BA and DPhil at Oxford University, and is now Professor in Political Science at UCLA. She was the first woman to be President of the International Political Science Association, 1991-94, and in 2004 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the UK Political Studies Association.</p>
