Part 1: Rosie Newman was an amateur filmmaker who took colour film of her trip to India in 1935. She unwittingly recorded a colonial world on the brink of collapse. Other subjects she filmed include: the young Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret who lived next door to her; Egypt; and London during the Second World War. |

Part 2: Harry and Bolling Wright were steel magnates and brothers who loved travelling around the world, especially by cruise ship, taking films. The colour footage of their trips to Papua New Guinea, Australia and the Mediterranean show a world before mass tourism. Other places they filmed include: the Pacific islands, the Dutch East Indies, South Africa, North Africa, Europe and Palestine. They also filmed America, especially Treasure Island, built during the 1920s which eventually became a military base in the Second World War. |
