This book examines these issues to challenge the idea of the consumer as a sovereign individual and to demonstrate how consumption is institutionalised within societies. Interesting comparisons between countries are given, drawing from research results. The six European countries compared are: Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Norway and Portugal.
