James McConville worked in the maritime industry before coming to Ruskin College to study economics. He completed his BSc at Hull and his doctorate at Warwick University. McConville is now a Professor at London Metropolitan University, editor of Maritime Policy and Management, and an advisor to government of matters of seafaring.
